Jury orders Samsung to repay Apple 290 Million

Apple was awarded 290 million dollars today by a San Jose jury. Samsung was ordered to pay Apple the money after the second ruling in favor of Apple. Samsung will most likely appeal the decision like they did with the first one.

This trial wasn’t followed as closely as the first one, but it still sets the precedence as Samsung will have to be a little more innovative and not infringe as much on other company’s patents in the future.

US District Judge, Lucy Koh, said that Samsung infringed on 14 patents. Apple had originally asked for 380 million, while Samsung countered at 54 million. This is a significant win for Apple, but will most likely be tied up in the courts for a few more years.
